RESUMO

One of the diagnostic tool for clinical evaluation and disease diagnosis is a pulse waveform analysis. High fidelity radial artery pulse waveforms have been investigated in clinical research to compute central aortic pressure, which has been demonstrated to be predictive of cardiovascular diseases. The radial artery must be inspected from several angles in order to obtain the best pulse waveform for estimate and diagnosis. In this study, we present the design and experimental testing of an optical sensor based on Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG). A 3D printed device along with the FBG is used to measure the radial artery pulses. The proposed sensor is used for the purpose of quantifying the radial artery pulse waveform across major pulse position point. The suggested optical sensing system can measure the pulse signal with good accuracy. The main characteristic parameters of the pulse can then be retrieved from the processed signal for their use in clinical applications. By conducting experiments under the direction of medical experts, the pulse signals are measured. In order to experimentally validate the sensor, we used it to detect the pulse waveforms at Guan position of the wrist's radial artery in accordance with the diagnostic standards. The findings show that combining optical technologies for physiological monitoring and radial artery pulse waveform monitoring using FBG in clinical applications are highly feasible.

RESUMO

The results of a quantitative experimental structural investigation of the adsorption phases formed by 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7',8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4TCNQ) on Cu(111) are reported. A particular objective was to establish whether Cu adatoms are incorporated into the molecular overlayer. A combination of normal incidence X-ray standing waves, low-energy electron diffraction, scanning tunneling microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements, complemented by dispersion-inclusive density functional theory calculations, demonstrates that F4TCNQ on Cu(111) does cause Cu adatoms to be incorporated into the overlayer to form a two-dimensional metal-organic framework (2D-MOF). This conclusion is shown to be consistent with the behavior of F4TCNQ adsorption on other coinage metal surfaces, despite an earlier report concluding that the adsorption structure on Cu(111) is consistent with the absence of any substrate reconstruction.

RESUMO

In craniomaxillofacial surgery the inclusion of lattice structure on the Cranio-implants for the surgical procedure of cranial defects is difficult. Additive manufacturing open ups a huge space for the development of intricate profiles for complex surgical practices. Designing lattice structures with various design topologies has gained more interest in the medical community for reducing the weight of the implants in the cranial region. This research proposes the mimicking of cranial defective portion concerning bone-like porous structure by means of Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) material via 3D printing technology. The experiments were optimized by incorporating square-type porous lattice structure in the development of cranial implants. The design-based factors of the unit cell were enhanced with the aid of the Design of experiments (DOE) technique. L9 orthogonal array is developed by incorporating various design-based factors of the lattice unit cell like unit cell size (mm), skewing angle (°), wall thickness (mm), and unit cell orientation (°). The experiments are optimized with respect to obtaining better compressive strength and compressive strength/density of the prepared lattice structure incorporated polymeric samples. The result shows that for obtaining the maximum compressive strength in the porous square lattice-structured PMMA compression samples will be a lower cell size of 2 mm, a higher skewing angle of 30°, a higher wall thickness of 1 mm, and a unit cell orientation of 90°. The experimental optimized condition results of the design-based factors achieve the maximum compressive strength and compressive strength/density of 83.37 MPa and 189.73 MPa/g mm-3. The lattice structure orientated with 90° has a significant contribution towards reducing the development of structural deviations of incorporating square lattice structure on the PMMA polymeric material. Therefore, the topologically modified square lattice structure incorporated 3D printed PMMA material has a potential scope for the replacement of conventional maxillofacial cranial implants.
